Fed up of paying extortionate prices for recycled ‘vintage’ on Brick Lane? This weekend pick n mix are taking vintage back to its roots with PICK’N’MIX at THE HAGGERSTON, one of east london’s finest pubs. 

Sharpen your elbows and get ready to rifle though rails weighed down with vintage finds from the same stockist as Brick Lane’s Rokit. Fit as much as you can into £15 or £25 bags- they reckon thats about 5 items in a small bag and 10 in a larger bag. 

The Haggerston also do very fine eggs and french toast with bacon, and an excellent bloody mary.

LAYDZ LEAVE UR MAN AT HOME

This week saw International Womens Day. This weekend in celebration of all things female events are being hosted all over the capital.

South of the river WOW (Women of the World) festival at the Southbank Centre focuses on womens history, as well as on campaigning for continued gender equality through talking, educating and mentoring (with mentors including Cherie Blair!), as well as comedy and music.  

Todays speakers include Mary Portas, Bianca Jagger and Dawn Porter.

Those of you who may be too hungover or lazy to get on the tube can head down to Spitalfields today to catch the International Womens Fair, where there will be the usual stalls, as well as live music, WW2 themed ballroom dancing, international food, and, if you hurry, you can catch a tour (a free tour!) of the Woman’s Library.

HIDIN FROM THE RAIN

Walking down Redchurch Street this weekend, we noticed the opening of The New Curosity Shop at number 28. Curated by Daniel Poole, The New Curosity Shop is an exhibition filled with installations, sculpture and found objects work by artists such as Finn Stone and Sue Golden.

The New Curiosity Shop is open daily until the 17th March.
